A Preview: Gearing Up for the Accessibility Awareness Event

As the day of the Accessibility Awareness Event approaches, we at AbiliTrek are getting more and more excited!

Details

Come join us on September 29, 2018, from 1:00pm-4:00pm, at the Fairhaven Green in Bellingham, Washington. If you are not able to attend this event in person, AbiliTrek will also be streaming live, so support us on Facebook @AbiliTrek.

Who is This Event For?

This event is for everyone–young and old, Bellingham locals, and visitors. Whether you have a disability or not, come check out the resources provided by local advocates as well as learn why accessibility is important for everyone.

Who Will Be There?

As to this date, we have so many committed partners who are excited to join us as well as educate the community about living with a disability and what resources each organization provides. Shout out to Max Higbee Center, the YMCA, the ARC of Whatcom County, St. Francis, Disability Outreach Center (DOC), and SISU.

We hope to see you there as well!

Other Aspects to Look Forward to:

We have multiple activities in our agenda to highlight.

  • The YMCA is providing rides in their PediCab.
  • A local artist will be performing her song that captures how the misperception of disability can be isolating.
  • Hear from local advocates–their personal accounts of the importance of accessibility and inclusion.
  • AbiliTrek will also be showcasing their platform as well as wrapping up their week-long map-a-thon with a raffle.

Thank you to:

Thank you to our sponsors–Fairhaven Poke, Community Food Co-op, Third Planet, the Bagelry, Chuckanut Brewery, and the YMCA. Thank you to these businesses for providing raffle items as well.

Thank you to the above six businesses as well as Black Drop, Trove, Magdalena’s Creperie, St. Francis, Ovn, Naan and Brew, Buffalo Exchange, 1Paper, and Fairhaven Inn for advertising our event.

Thank you to any additional businesses who join us in sponsoring and/or promoting our event as well.

Thank you to any of you who join us! It is going to be an exciting event that we hope begins an annual occurrence.
